The SAMLv2 protocol (or Security Assertion Markup Language version 2) is an IT security standard used to exchange authentication and authorization information between different entities, such as Identity Providers (IdPs) and Service Providers (SPs).

In particular, it enables single sign-on (SSO), where a user can access multiple applications or services after authenticating once with his or her identity provider. SAMLv2 is widely used in identity and access management (IAM) environments to secure interactions between users and systems.
