To add a colour to an idea, you'll have 2 possibilities :
1 - From the idea itself
a) From your Board, click on 
to create a "New idea"
b) Click on the 
to "Add a colour".
c) Choose the colour you want .
Validate your choice using the "Add" button.
d) Your colour is now available and can be use by your participants.
2 - From the Settings
a) From your Board, click on "Settings" on the top right of your screen
b) Then, choose "Colors"
c) Click on the 
to "Add a colour"
d) Choose the colour you want
Validate your choice using the "Add" button"
e) Your colour is now available and can be use by your participants
