It is now possible to automatically transmit Klaxoon activity scores to the Moodle "Notebook", making it easier to monitor participants' performance directly from the educational platform.
1) Prerequisites for activation
To enable this feature, a dedicated Klaxoon plugin for Moodle must be installed and configured by your administrator.
Contact your Customer Success Manager or Klaxoon support to express your interest in installing the Klaxoon plugin in Moodle. You will receive illustrated documentation with all the steps and access necessary to declare Klaxoon as an external Moodle tool.
Teachers and trainers will then be able to natively add Klaxoon content when creating courses and activate the automatic addition of Klaxoon grades to students' Moodle gradebooks. The student will be offered an association of accounts between Klaxoon and Moodle during his first connection allowing this transmission.
In summary of the steps necessary to automatically transmit the scores of Klaxoon activities to the Moodle "Notebook":
Administrator: You need to configure the plugin to allow the transmission of scores
Teacher: You must check "Allow Klaxoon to add notes to the gradebook" from the Moodle activity settings.
Student: Must accept the linking of LMS and Klaxoon accounts
2) Enabling Teacher Score Transmission
Once the Klaxoon plugin has been configured, you can now activate the transmission of scores from Moodle. The results of Klaxoon activities are transmitted automatically as the participants' progress changes. For Missions, the transmission is triggered when the "Quiz" steps are completed. In the case of activities such as Quiz, Survey, Adventure or Memo, scores are sent each time a question has been answered. Finally, when the activity is replayed, the results are transmitted at each consultation.
3) Details of the scores transmitted
The scores transmitted to Moodle accurately reflect the performance of the participants on each Klaxoon activity. Here's how they're calculated by type of activity:
Quiz: The score corresponds to the overall percentage of success of the student on the entire activity
Survey: The user's progress on the Survey
Memo: The score represents the overall percentage of the participant's success on the Quiz questions present in the Memo
Adventure: The score is calculated based on the answers to the questions of the entire Adventure (in percentage)
Mission: The score corresponds to the percentage of success of the participant on the "Quiz" stages of the complete Mission
4) Adjustments to the "Results" and "Statistics" views in the host view
Wording is harmonized across multiple interfaces and reports to clarify the distinction between Score (score based on all questions) and Success Rate (score based only on questions that have been answered).
Details of the changes:
In Results views, the "Group Average" label changes to "Success Rate."
In Activity Metrics views, the label "Score (group average)" changes to "Success rate (group average)".
In the Participant Statistics views, the "Score" label changes to "Success Rate".
These adjustments will be visible through:
The Results and Statistics views of Klaxoon activities.
Pdf activity reports
The Public APIs Activity Report.
Results transmitted to LMS notebooks such as Moodle
A new "Score" column has also been added in the "Participant Statistics" view. The score in this column is based on all the questions.
Explanatory tooltips are available on the column titles to clarify the definition of Score and Success Rate. These adjustments apply to the animator views of the following activities: Quiz, Mission, Adventure, Memo, Session.
These changes are intended to avoid confusion between metrics, especially in PDF reports, public Activity Report APIs, and gradebooks in LMSs like Moodle.
This integration offers simplified results management, allowing teachers to centralize progress tracking directly in Moodle and ensure accurate and automated assessment of participants.
This integration has been available since January 29, 2025 for all Klaxoon users. If you want to know more about this integration, you can read this article: Klaxoon integration with Moodle, and other LMSs compatible with the LTI protocol.
