Collaborate instantly. Klaxoon Board: familiar, accessible, and easy for everyone
Klaxoon Board is having a major upgrade!
This update is all about making Klaxoon Board smoother, smarter, and more enjoyable, whether you’re brainstorming, presenting, or collaborating in real time with clearer menus and more intuitive controls.
Here’s everything you need to know about the latest features and changes:
-
New navigation and selection modes
- We’ve simplified how you interact within your Board:
-
Two modes, one button:
The old “pan and picker” and “navigate the board” modes are gone. Now, just toggle the “Select” buttons:- Selection Mode (arrow): Select and move unlocked objects. Drag to move, or use the selection rectangle to select multiple items. Locked objects can’t be moved, but can still be selected.
- Navigation Mode (hand): Move around your Board, select objects (blue outline, contextual menu), but you can’t move them. The pointer becomes a hand, and you can pan by clicking and dragging anywhere—even on locked or unlocked objects.
- Quick Switch: Whenever you add a new object, Board automatically switches to Selection Mode so you can move it. You can always pan with right-click or the spacebar shortcut.
Tip: the tooltip for the Select button remains consistent: “Select (A) Navigate (H)”
Tip: create sticky notes and comments using the right click anywhere on Board
- Easier selection of empty shapes: Selecting empty shapes, text zones, tables, or drawings is now effortless. Just click inside the empty area, if there’s nothing behind, the shape is selected. If another object is behind, you’ll select that instead. This makes it much easier to add text or edit shapes quickly.
- Better visibility and manageability for locked objects: when an object is locked, an explicit Unlock blue button now appears directly in the idea menu when you click on the idea, making it easier to see and change its lock status.
-
Redesigned toolbar and stickies
- The central “+” button is replaced by a dedicated sticky note icon in the lower-left toolbar and is rebranded “sticky note” in english.
- The sticky note button now features a color submenu:
- Instantly pick from the Board’s configured sticky note colors
- The last-used color is preselected; you can switch colors before adding a note
- The cursor updates to show the selected sticky note color
- Clicking icons for text, brush, tables, comment and AI opens the respective tools.
- Shape and drawing (new pencil icon) submenus remain familiar, with quick access to the shapes library and brush settings: color selector, thickness, eraser.
- When adding text or shapes, the system remembers your last-used color for that object type.
- Customize the toolbar to keep your most-used tools always at hand. The toolbar is organized into five sections:
- Pinned (your favorites, shown directly in the live toolbar),
- Layout (shapes, text, draw, table, comments, AI),
- Content (connectors, patterns, templates, zones), Insertion (activities, icons, iframe, Jira, links, Wrike items, Wrike widgets),
- and Import (CSV, files, PDFs, images, sketches).
You can pin/unpin tools with one click and reorder items in the Pinned section (top of the list = left in the toolbar). Empty sections are automatically hidden to keep the UI clean, and your setup is saved locally per user and device. When a facilitator disables participant permissions (e.g., drawings, images, shapes), all related tools remain visible but are disabled, with a tooltip explaining that the permission was turned off by the facilitator.
-
Minimap and Board view revisited
- The minimap is now hidden by default for new Boards or first-time participants, keeping your workspace clean.
- Click the “100%” indicator to open the zoom menu, just like clicking the chevron.
-
Improved participant toolbar & presentation menu
New toolbar in the upper-right: “Present”, “Interact”, “Visio”, and “Comments” buttons are now grouped for easy access.
-
Participants Toolbar:
- Only connected participants are displayed in the header, sorted alphabetically (first on the left). Up to 6 avatars shown; extra participants are indicated by an icon.
-
Click any participant area (avatars, icon, chevron) to open a menu listing online and offline users. Online users show the current user first, then others alphabetically; offline users are also listed alphabetically.
Coming soon: “Go to position” option will let you center the Board on a participant’s cursor.
-
-
Presentation Features:
- The “Present” icon moves to the top-right toolbar. Click to start a classic presentation, or use the chevron for more options:
- Present zones or manage zones directly.
- During presentations, you can hand over control to another participant.
- The current presenter’s avatar is highlighted in blue.
- Participants can easily quit the presentation mode.
- When presenting, sharing and comment panel buttons are hidden for clarity.
-
Interact and manage time:
- Interact sub-menu: the “Questions” icon which used to be on the left-hand side toolbar is now “Engage and Interact” with a submenu for Poll, questions, dot voting. When the question creation modal is active, related menu items are disabled to prevent accidental navigation. In list and column views, the "Engage & Interact" section is hidden, while participants no longer see the "Manage Time" section, ensuring only relevant options are displayed. Additionally, in facilitator-controlled mode, the action button in the header is hidden to streamline the interface and provide a more focused experience.
- Dot-voting: when a dot voting is initiated, a new button appears in the header for both facilitators and participants. A growl notification displaying the tooltip is shown for 10 seconds. The behavior, tooltips, and submenu remain consistent with the current experience, though visual updates have been made, including refreshed icons and capitalization. The same facilitator and participant rules apply to available actions. Once dot voting is finished, the header button disappears. If dot voting is in progress and users return to the "Interact" menu, the dot voting entry displays a chevron; clicking it opens the same submenu as the header button.
-
Track and manage time features have been relocated to the top right-hand menu for easier access and visibility. When a break is in progress, a new button appears in the header to indicate the active break status. The behavior, tooltips, and submenu remain consistent with the current experience, with visual updates such as refreshed icons and capitalization. Clicking "Resume" will remove the "Break" button from the header. While a break is ongoing, returning to the "Interact" menu will replace the "Break" entry with a "Resume" option.
Please note: The "Live" videoconferencing feature has been removed from Klaxoon in this update.
- Share: The share button works similarly as before, with a new submenu for copying the link, managing requests, and viewing sharing mode info.
-
Settings & information consolidated
- Hover over Board settings in the top-right to see full details: title, image, owner, creation date, and network.
- All settings in one menu: Personal and Board settings, minimap, renaming, colors, and more are now easy to find.
- Clearer terms: “Dimensions” are now called “extra fields.”
- Snap options: on top of having now the “Line grid” and “Dot grid” options in Personal settings, we made the alignment to objects and grid independent from each other and from grid selection (allowing users to display the grid but align only on objects for ex).
- The search on Board has been updated and extended to shapes, text, text objects, connectors, text and image legends.
This feature is available since 03/02/2026 for all Klaxoon users.
