In this article, you'll find all the vocabulary you need to excel on Klaxoon, from the essential Board to advanced animation techniques such as Dot-Voting.

1 - Fundamental concepts

Board

The Board is Klaxoon's digital, visual and infinite whiteboard. It is a real-time collaborative workspace where participants can share ideas, images, videos, drawings, and documents.

Idea

The Idea is the basic element that is added to a Board, the equivalent of a digital post-it. An Idea can contain text, an image, a drawing, and be customized with colors and dimensions.

Network

The Network is a private and secure workspace dedicated to a team, a project or a department. It centralizes members, content (Boards, Sessions, etc.) and discussions to facilitate long-term collaboration.

2 - Types of activities

Session

The Session is a synchronous, structured and rhythmic activity by a facilitator. It allows you to guide a group of participants through a series of planned Klaxoon activities (Poll, Quiz, Board, etc.) over a defined period of time.

Live

Live is Klaxoon's integrated videoconferencing tool, designed to host Sessions remotely. It allows you to combine screen sharing, audio, video and interactive activity launch within a single interface.

Question

The Question activity allows you to solicit instant feedback from a group via different interactive formats:

  • Survey: Single or multiple choice voting.

  • Word Cloud: Displays the most submitted words by participants by magnifying the most popular ones.

  • Evaluation: Rating from 1 to 5 stars.

  • Quiz: Single or multiple response questionnaire with a final score.

  • Open-ended question: Participants send short text responses.

  • In brief: A tool to probe, query, and engage a group in seconds.

  • Use cases: Break the ice at the beginning of the meeting, gather opinions quickly, validate the understanding of a subject.

Mission

The Mission is a course of asynchronous and fun activities. It allows participants to progress at their own pace through a series of steps (videos, quizzes, content to read).

Adventure

Adventure is a type of asynchronous activity that is similar to a treasure hunt or an educational escape game. It immerses participants in a narrative universe (settings, characters, story) where they must progress step by step by solving puzzles, answering questions and finding clues. The emphasis is on immersion and storytelling to make learning fun and memorable.

Memo

The Memo is a simple tool for sharing information. It is presented as a page on which text, images and videos can be combined, and to which a series of questions can be added to ensure understanding.

3 - Manage and access content

Template library

The Template Library is a collection of ready-to-use activity templates (Boards, Sessions, Missions, etc.) designed by Klaxoon or by the community. These templates cover dozens of use cases (project management, ideation, team rituals, etc.) and are fully customizable.

Join an activity

This is the feature that allows a participant to access a Session, a Board or another activity shared by a facilitator. Access is usually via a simple access code, a direct link or a QR Code.

Import / Export / Storage

This notion covers data management in Klaxoon.

  • Import: Ability to import external content (images, PDFs, PowerPoint presentations, videos) directly onto a Board or into an activity.

  • Export: A feature that allows you to download data from an activity (e.g., survey results in Excel file, or a full summary of a Board in PDF or PNG image). This allows you to capitalize on the work done.

  • Storage: All activities and data created are stored securely on Klaxoon's cloud. The data is hosted in Europe (France and Ireland), ensuring compliance with the GDPR.

4 - Animation and facilitation features

Sync Board

This essential feature of the Board allows the facilitator to "take over" the screen of all the participants to draw their attention to a specific point. When Sync is enabled, participants see the exact same area of the Board as the facilitator, who can then guide them visually.

Timer

The Timer is a visual timer that the facilitator can start at any time during an activity. It is visible to all participants and helps to punctuate the work phases (individual reflection, voting, discussion, etc.).

5 - Advanced Board features

Dot-Voting

Directly on a Board, the facilitator can launch a Dot-Vote so that participants allocate a certain number of points (or "dots") to the Ideas they prefer. It is an effective method of prioritizing and making decisions collectively.

Categories & Connectors

  • Categories: Visual containers on the Board that allow you to group and organize Ideas in a thematic way.

  • Connectors: Arrows and lines to connect Ideas together, to show cause and effect, processes, or relationships.
